White Perch, Yellow Perch, Crappie, Catfish: Ultimate Multispecies Fishing Charter in Virginia

Travis, Connor, Nolan, and Declan joined us on the lake for a morning of multispecies fishing. Their goal was to catch as many differnet types of fish as possible. We set out shortly after sunrise and started to drag crankbaits and jigs behind the boat along the channel ledges. It didn't take long before we started to work through a number of white perch.

Just about everybody on board had a chance to catch a white perch.

We started to target some shallower water near creek mouths and we had our first unexpected catch of the morning. A rod folded over and was pinned to the bottom. We had to take our time, slowly fighting the fish to the boat, and netted our second sepcies of the morning, an eater size blue catfish!

As we worked our way up lake, we continued to catch white perch then the bite quieted down a little. We zig-zagged through deep and shallow water, marking fish just about everywhere. The bottom structure changed to heavy weed cover so we worked the edge of the weedline and picked up a couple nice crappie.

We made a big loop and started to work the other side of the channel ledge and the bite was mostly quiet. Our only catch was a decent size bluegill for species number 4 on the morning.

We worked our way back towards the creek mouths and moved back into a creek. We caught some more white perch on the way into the creek.

Once we got back in the creek, there was a ton of weed growth taking up much of the water column. Right when the bottom transitioned to weeds, we caught our 5th species of the morning, a shellcracker!

Moving back into the weeds, we had to shorten up our line lengths so our baits wouldn't dive as deep. Our crankbaits started to pick up weeds but our jugs started to shine. The next fish to come int he boat was species 6 for the day, a yellow perch!

The further into the creek we trolled, the heavier the weed cover. We picked up one more small ring perch and decided to move back out to the main lake.

On the main lake, we continued to troll as we fillets the fish up for a fish fry. We didn't catch any more fish in this stretch of river but were able to send the guys home with some meat for a cookout!
