Trophy yellow perch and crappie!

We had Joseph, Theresa, Mary, and Keith jump on the boat for a day of Crappie fishing.

We started the day off, trolling crank baits and got into three fish in the first 10 minutes. These were medium size crappie and we were excited about what the day had in store.

We reset the rods and started trolling again and things were a little quiet. We made some adjustments to our set up and put some jigs out. This is when we start to get into the fish again. We were trolling through the creeks and picking up Crappie here and there, slowly starting to fill the livewell up.

Our guest took turns rotating through the rods, and we had a lot of double ups. We started to get into some other species, such as white perch and yellow perch.
About halfway through the trip, we had a rod go down and it was a trophy size yellow perch at 13 inches. Congratulations on the trophy fish.

We ran to a different part of the lake and picked up a few more fish, but the bite wasn’t as good as it was in the creeks. When we got back in the creek, we tried fishing with live minnows on slip floats without any success.
We started to pull crankbaits and jigs again, and the bite was better than in the morning. We continue to pick up fish and add to our groups, fish fry, including a bunch of giant bluegill.

By the end of the trip, our group had a nice bag of fillets consisting of a dozen Croft, a dozen big bluegill, and some yellow perch and white perch to mix in.
We hope you enjoyed your time on the water. There was some good action for the majority of the day. Thanks for coming out.
