Trophy Fish for the Bachelor Party!

We had David, David, David and Kevin on the boat to celebrate a bachelor party. We had bait ready to go and got to work scanning for some fish. It took a second to check out a few areas as our usual locations were not holding fish. We pulled out the Alphaboardz and started to drag baits in some shallow to moderately deep water. A few minutes into pulling planer boards and we had our first eater size fish of the morning on the deck.

We reset the boards and continued to drag along some mud flats. Things were quiet for about 30 minutes then a planer board disappeared underwater and the fight was on. Our pink Hellcat rod loaded up with a big blue catfish and we worked together to bring the fish to the boat. When the fish hit the deck, we found it to be a bit on the skinny side, weighing in at 24 lbs. We busted out the bump board and measured the fish at 38.25 in, long enough to qualify as a trophy fish in virginia.

Welcome to the trophy club!

As we continued to drag, we marked many great fish but they were not interested in our cut sections of gizzard shad. We put in the time to cover different areas of this locaiton and eventually threw in the towel and moved locations.

We fished a couple of locations after marking fish and continued to catch eater size fish.

Before long, it was time to wrap up the morning and take the boat back to the dock. Thanks for a trip filled with laughs and some quality fish! Hope to have you back on the water sometime in the future.
