Multispecies Fishing Birthday Party

Kenya booked a trip with her sisters to celebrate her mom‘s birthday. These ladies were serious about fishing and put a hurting on the fish all morning long.
The goal of the trip was to catch a bunch of meat for a fish fry and have an awesome time on the water. We had bait ready to go when our group arrived and we headed straight to our first catfish spot I didn’t even have all the rods in the water when they started getting tapped and it wasn’t long before our first fish in the morning was in the boat. A nice eater size blue catfish.

The spot produced another eater size catfish and then quieted down, so we moved along.

We started scanning on the opposite bank of the river and found a pile of bait fish surrounded by larger game fish. We tossed the rods in the water and nearly immediately one of the white perch headpieces went down. This fish put up a battle and pulled drag a few times, but it was no match for our fierce lady anglers. We scooped it up with the net and it was a really nice striped bass. Unfortunatley about 10 days before the season opened so this fish had to go back. Otherwise it would have made some delicious tacos!

This spot was somewhat slow despite all the activity we saw on the graph. We did catch one more blue catfish before moving on.

The sun was beating down at this point so we started to fish some mud flats and caught another eater blue catfish.

As we were reeling up our rods to go to the next spot, one of them started to tug back, and I handed the rod off. A short fight later and we had a nice little flathead catfish in the boat.

A moment later, the same thing happened as I was reeling up a rod there was a tiny blue catfish on it. Handed the rod off so our guest could finish up the fight.

For the last hour of our trip, we moved spots, and it was a steady bite right from when we first anchored. One of our first catches in this location was a nice size channel catfish to round out our trifecta for the day; a blue catfish, a flathead, catfish, and a channel catfish.

We caught a couple more eaters size blue catfish for the cooler.

Our last fish of the day was the biggest a little over 12 pounds we toss this fish back and it was time to head back to the ramp.

These ladies put a serious hurting on the fish today and we sent them home with a bag full of fillets for a fish fry.
We hope you enjoyed your trip and that we’ll see you again on the water real soon.
