A Day on the Water with Family

Fred, Lindsey, Charlotte, and Jackson joined us on the lake for a half-day multispecies fishing trip. The kids were eager to catch some fish, so we deployed the mini crankbaits right away and began trolling. We played around with our speed and depths, and soon enough, we landed our first fish of the morning—a beautiful largemouth bass caught near a grass line.

Not long after, two rods went down simultaneously! We pulled in a big white perch and another largemouth bass. What a thrill!

Charlotte was on fire, catching all the bass. Jackson, however, was determined to catch one too. Luck was on his side when the next rod that went down was another largemouth bass, and he successfully reeled it in!

We continued to put the precision cast rods to work, landing yet another largemouth!

Adapting Our Tactics

After a brief quiet patch, we decided to change our strategy. As the sun climbed higher in the sky, we increased our speed to get our crankbaits deeper into the water column. We also switched to the opposite side of the lake. This change in tactics paid off, and we dialed into our third species of the morning—a nice crappie!

Our pink, deep-diving crankbait was starting to steal the show, catching another crappie!

Next up was our purple deep-diving crankbait, which caught yet another largemouth bass.

It was such a joy to watch the kids get into the action and hear their excitement every time a rod went down!

Wrapping Up a Great Day
